Tier 3 Visa: UK Work Permits for Low Skilled Workers

Tier 3 of the UK Points Based System is for low skilled workers coming to the UK to perform temporary low-skilled work, such as fruit picking, hospitality, etc. This will replace existing work permits such as the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Scheme (SAWS) and the Sectors Based Scheme (SBS). Tier 3 Visas are intended to provide for the varying requirements for low-skilled workers throughout the year, often in positions where demand is seasonal.

Tier 3 Visa Application Requirements

As is the case for UK work permits under Tier 2 of the Points Based System, the employer will have to provide the individual with a certificate of sponsorship. In order to do this, the employer will have to show that they have attempted to source employees within the UK and EU in order to become recognised as the operator of a low skilled worker scheme. Tier 3 Visas do not constitute a route to settlement and will not allow you to apply for Permanent Residence.

Tier 3 Visas will be granted for a maximum of 12 months and the individual must leave the UK at the end of this period. Switching into other Tiers within the UK is not permitted and you cannot bring dependents with you.
