Hi
I plan to apply for Tier 1 (General) visa and have the following query regarding the minimum balance requirment for maintenance funds of GBP 2800. I have maintained an average balance of GBP 3000 during November'08, GBP 4500 during December'08 and GBP 6000 during January'09. However the balance was GBP 2300 for 6 days between 21st Nov to 26th Nov. On this base can my application be refused for the visa.
Also once granted the visa, is there any timeline within which I must enter UK?

I assume you are going to apply from outside the UK. Unfortunately you will probably be refused if you submit your application, as a very large number of people have been refused for going below the required level of funds for even one day. You will have to apply once you can show the full 3-month period without the balance dropping below the required level at all, so this will probably mean, so probably after 1st March to be safe and evidence all of December, January and February.
When you apply you should enter a date on which you would like to enter the UK on the form and this can be up to three months after the date on which you submit your application. You should aim to enter the UK as soon as possible after the visa commences and ideally within 28 days if you do not want to potentially create problems with a future application for Permanent Residence.
Again - do not submit your application if your balance goes below GBP 2,800 at any time.

Hi
thanks for the prompt reply. I do not have plans to stay in UK for more than 3 years and as such am not much worried about PR. The current situation is that I am looking for a job in UK and intend to enter UK once the job is confirmed. Accordingly if I do not have issues with PR what is the timeline for entry to UK once the visa is approved.
Also at present my age is 29 yrs 2 months.....in that case how much points will I score on the age criteria?
Also I am chartered accountant and received my membership in 2004.....in that case how much points will I score o nthe qualification criteria?

There is not a specific timeline. Your visa is valid for three years. I would try to make sure you enter inside six months at the most, if only to attend interviews. You are 29, so you get 10 points for age. You have not said what qualification you have. ACCA? Something else? You need to try and locate this on the Home Office self-assessment points calculator - this will tell you how many points the qualification is worth.

If you go below the required level of funds for even one day then you will be refused.
When you apply you can request a date for the visa to commence - this should be within 3 months of the day on which you submit your application. You can enter later if you want to do so but you should really try to be in the UK within 2 months of the start date of the visa so that you do not have potential problems with a future ILR application.
