Tier 1

Hi everyone,

for all the people planning to apply for Tier1 (General) or who have already applied (or the lucky ones who have already obtained the visa) please share your experiences (especially the waiting times).

I applied on the 10th of July (I suppose they would have received documents by the 11th, Express platinum post is efficient). Haven't had any communication from the consulate whatsoever. Tried calling them a couple of times but effectively they give you ZERO information! The only information they do give you is that "The minimum time it takes to process an appication is 4 weeks!" If you call them after 4 weeks ($9.90 per call) and ask them for an application status, no information is given. They tell you that they can send a request to the visa section and a response (yes - processed, no - not processed) comes back to them within 48 hours, which you can obtain by calling them again (another $9.90) to enquire. That said, once an application has been processed, you will receive a confirmation email anyhow. Point in case - looks like there's no point calling them whatsoever.

I tried to ask them for some "statistics": how long do Tier1 (General) applications take on average? Is there a maximum time? The answer to ALL of those questions is: we don't have/don't give out that kind of information.

Anyways, would be great if people could share their experiences.

I was about to ask the same thing!!

I applied on the 21 July 2008 in Canberra. At the time of application I was told the process would take 20 working days. I haven't heard anything, but is has only been 15 working days to date for me. Taking your date as a baseline, it sounds like I won't hear anything for at least another week...?

time will tell I suppose

Anyone else?? It would be useful to all post our experiences here so that we can get an idea how long we should expect to wait.
